Over 1,000 black farmers from around Alabama ralled in Montgomery on February 11 to demand that Congress support President Obama by agreeing to disburse funds placed in the President's budget for black farmers who were denied help from the United States Department of Agriculture on the basis of race. Among the scores of black farmers attending from Lowndes County was Lula Boykin of Hayneville (pictured).
