Wreck on Highway 80 kills two

A one-vehicle accident with two fatalities and two injuries occurred on U.S. 80, Monday in Lowndes County, according to State Troopers.
Troopers reported the accident involving a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe occurred at 11:50 a.m. in the east bound lane at the 114.5 mile marker.
Lowndes County Coroner Doris Alexander said Tara Sanders, 26, of Selma, identified as the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:20 p.m.
According to State Troopers, Frank Carter was also a fatality and injured were Kwamikh Fletcher and Rosita Boyd.
Alexander said the vehicle was traveling toward Montgomery and all four persons in the vehicle were ejected. She said she understood the male passenger, identified by State Troopers, died at Baptist South Hospital.
Lowndesboro Fire/Rescue department assisted at the scene along with Care Ambulance medics, Burkeville Fire/Rescue department, Sheriff John Williams and Lowndes County Emergency Management Agency Director Walter S. Hill, according to Hill. He said Hayneville firefighter Terrell Means assisted with traffic control along with Cynthia Brown and State Troopers.
“Traffic was restricted to one lane for nearly two hours as rescue workers worked the accident scene,” Hill said.
