The White Hall Town Council held its first meeting of 2012 on Thursday night and discussed seeking grants to upgrade its Fire Department.
“The equipment is outdated,” said Mayor Elizabeth Davis.
She also said the council wants to see if it can get some grants to bring “everything up to par” so the Fire Department can respond if needed.
The council went into executive session to discuss good name and character but took no action, approved the minutes of the last meeting and adjourned.
On Friday, Dec. 23, the mayor and council of White Hall presented a plaque honoring former Police Chief Horace Jackson Sr. for 3o years of service.
The plaque presentation was made in the absence of Jackson at the town’s first Policeman’s Ball held at the Jackson-Steele Community Center to help raise funds for the Police Department.
Also on hand were current Part-Time Police Chief Tony M. Bufford and Lowndes County Sheriff John Williams.
