For more of the employees working the early morning shift at the Selma McDonald’s Monday morning, the sight of two masked robbers breaking through a window was a surprise. For one employee, Selma Police said, the events were going just as planned.

According to department reports, two armed robbers, wearing masks, broke through a window at the McDonalds located at 600 Highland Avenue around 3:30 a.m., brandished firearms and told employees to get on the floor.

The two suspects then told the shift manager on duty to open up the safe and hand over the cash. She did.

According to Selma Chief of Police William T. Riley, the two masked suspects then left the building with “approximately $2,300 in cash.”

There were not any customers in the restaurant, as the lobby was closed. The employees on hand were those in support of the restaurant’s 24-hour drive-thru service.

During the investigation, Riley said, detectives came to realize the events of Monday morning were beginning to look like an “inside job.”

Once they began to investigate further, Riley said, they interviewed the shift manager on duty that morning, Lisa McCall. After the interviews, McCall was identified as a suspect.

Tuesday, authorities went to McCall’s home in Lowndesboro, where they found $1,090 of the stolen money. She was then placed under arrest and transported to the Dallas County Jail, charged with first-degree robbery with a firearm. She is currently being held under a $500,000 cash-only bond.

Also during the investigation, police identified one of the two masked assailants as 26-year-old Shermaine Donta Law. Police also reported that Law is an employee of the Selma McDonald’s.

Law was taken into custody Tuesday in Selma and placed in the Dallas County Jail under a similar $500,000 cash-only bond. He is also charged with first-degree robbery with a firearm.

“We are continuing to investigate and search for information on the second, masked suspect,” Riley said. “At this point, Mr. Law has been anything but cooperative in the investigation.”
