“We just want to make the public aware that people are being indicted and people are being arrested for the crimes they commit here in Lowndes County,” G. Lashun Hutson, an investigator with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office said recently.
Hutson said numerous indictments, of which eight had to be served physically, were issued from the Lowndes County grand jury on Jan. 14.
“We had to go out and arrest these people with the cooperation of the Fort Deposit Police Department,” Hutson said.
“Chief Brandon Thomas agreed to allow his officers to team with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office and he came along also,” Hutson said.
Hutson said several arrests were made including anything from endangering the welfare of a child to sodomy first-degree, attempted rape and to murder.
Hutson said he hoped the sheriff’s office “will get more proficient in executing those indictments when they come out,”
And he said of the recent arrests, “Fort Deposit played a significant role in us getting these people apprehended.”
