A Sunday, June 9 accident claimed the life of a Lowndes County man. According to Lt. R. L. Duckett, police relations liaison for the Montgomery Police Department, on Sunday, June 9, at 9:17 p.m. the Accident Investigation Bureau of the MPD was called to investigate a two-vehicle accident involving injury. The accident occurred at the intersection of Woodcrest Drive and Selma Highway (U.S. 80) and involved a Chevrolet Monte Carlo occupied by two persons and a semi-truck with only the driver present, Duckett said. “The two-vehicle accident resulted in the death of the 37-year-old, black male Monte Carlo passenger who resides in Lowndes County,” Duckett said. She identified the passenger as Phillipe Frazier, 34. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene and the driver of the Monte Carlo was transported to the hospital and listed in stable condition at the time, according to Duckett. She said the driver of the semi-truck was not injured, but the death of the passenger was the City of Montgomery’s ninth Traffic Fatality in 2013.
