White Hall Police Chief Wilbert Barfield has been suspended without pay by Mayor James Walker, according to reports.
It’s not clear why Barfield was suspended, but reports indicate that the chief’s lawyer, Mickey McDermott, said the city council was unaware of the suspension order.
There is a city council meeting scheduled for Thursday night at the town hall, where it’s believed that the issue will arise.
