The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department arrested a White Hall area man on Tuesday, March 8 on a charge of robbery in the first degree for what is described as a “strong arm” robbery.
Investigator Lenny Lee of the Lowndes County S.O., said Melvin Lee Webster Oliver, 31, of the White Hall area was arrested for the alleged “strong arm” robbery of a Cadillac from a Lowndes County school teacher.
Lee said there was no weapon involved in the alleged crime, which he said allegedly occurred in the teacher’s yard, when the suspect allegedly took the keys from the teacher’s hands.
Lee said the teacher and another witness identified the suspect from a “series of photo lineups.”
He said the suspect was brought in for questioning and was charged with robbery in the first degree.
Lee said Oliver remained in the Lowndes County jail as of Thursday on a $75,000 bond.
