Lowndes Academy Varsity and JV Cheerleaders win top AISA cheer camp awards

Lowndes Academy Varsity Cheerleaders and Junior Varsity Cheerleaders recently attended the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) East Cheer Camp at Huntingdon College where both squads brought home first place awards, camp champ awards, as well as the Cheerleader Leadership Award.
The Varsity Squad competed in Home Pom and received first place, Sideline Cheer first place, Extreme Routine first place, Game Day Champions first place and first place Camp Champs for the medium squad division.
The Varsity Squad includes Mattie Ann Nall, Chloe Carlton, Savannah Dail, Madolynn Headley, Madison Gray, Emi Ann Gluschick, Olivia Walker, Avery Morgan, Peyton Simmons and Jasmine Jaworowski.
Nall was selected as an AISA All-Star and as a UCA (Universal Cheerleading Association) All-l American and Dail was selected as a UCA All-American.
“The most prestigious award received at camp was the Leadership Award won by Lowndes Academy, which was voted on by other teams at the camp,” said Kristen Harrell, who coached both the varsity and junior varsity squads with the help of Janet Bennett and Pam Kilpatrick. She said the award was for the entire program, varsity and junior varsity.
The Lowndes Academy Junior Varsity Cheerleaders include Shelby Oglesby, Olivia Reeves, Abigail Gluschick, Tristen Holley, Brooke Myers, Helen Oglesby and Emma Casey.
They also competed in Home Pom and won first place, Cheer first place, Extreme Routine first place, Game Day Champions first place and were the small squad JV Camp Champs.
Emma Casey and Brooke Myers were selected as UCA All-Americans.
