In Friday, Sept. 30 football action:
Lowndes Academy defeated Wilcox Academy 46-12 on the road in a non-regional contest to improve to 4-1 overall. At 1-1 in Class A Region 1 play, the Rebels will host Abbeville in a regional encounter on Friday, Oct. 7.
Calhoun fell to Luverne 49-6 on the road in a Class 2A Region 3 contest to go 0-7 overall and 0-3 in region play. The Tigers will host Elba in a regional contest on Friday, Oct. 7.
Rodrequis Managan scored the Tigers’ lone touchdown.
The Central High Lions fell to Elba in a regional tilt on the road 54-12. The loss dropped the Lions to 1-6 overall and 1-3 in Class 2A Region 3 play. Central will travel to Goshen for a regional bout on Oct. 7.
For Central Jaquez Bolling scored on a 70-yard kickoff return, and Jaylin Rush returned a fumble 47 yards for a score. Frank Burke scored a 2-point conversion for the Lions on a quarterback sneak.
