Scrushy wins in Hayneville, Bell qualified in Mosses

In Lowndes County special municipal election news from Tuesday, May 23, Carole C. Scrushy defeated Justin Pouncey for the vacant Council Seat in District A. And Harold Bell was the only candidate to quality for a special Mosses municipal election set for special election on Tuesday, July 18.
According to information provided by Hayneville Town Clerk Susan Smith, Tuesday night Scrushy defeated Pouncey 137 to 82. She defeated Pouncey 72 to 51 in votes cast Tuesday and 65 to 31 in absentee ballots.
Scrushy has served on the Hayneville Town Council about about 13 years.
Mosses Mayor Willie B. Hill confirmed Tuesday, May 23 that Harold Bell was the only candidate to qualify to fill a vacant council seat in a special municipal election that was set for July 18.
