Lowndes Academy boys and girls advance in regional basketball tournament

The Lowndes Academy Rebels and Lady Rebels both advanced in the first round of the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) Region Tournament in playoff action Thursday, Jan. 25 at Macon East.
The Lowndes Academy varsity boys represented AA Region 1, Area 1 as the second seed in the region tournament while the Lady Rebels were area champions and played as the first seed in the area tournament.
The Lowndes Academy Rebels defeated Restoration 78-59 Thursday and will face Autauga at 4:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 at Macon East.
Against Restoration, Kason Williams led the Rebels with 16 pints, Jon Johnson with 15 points and Mosley Higgins with 14 points.
The Lowndes Academy Lady Rebels defeated Restoration 47-17 behind Hannah Rogers, who scored 15 points, Madolynn Hussey, who scored 11 points, and Laiken Hussey, who scored 10 points.
The Lady Rebels will play Emmanuel at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan 26 at Macon East.
