Lowndes BOE has new vision, mission, goals

The Lowndes County Board of Education has a new vision, mission and five new goals.
Among action items approved at the Thursday, Sept. meeting of the school board was a revision to the school system’s strategic plan.
New Lowndes County School Superintendent Jason Burroughs said the school system’s newly approved vision is, “United in excellence to empower, engage, and educate while ‘creating pathways to success.’”
He said also the new mission statement for the school system is, “The mission of the Lowndes County Public Schools, in partnership with all stakeholders, is to prepare one student at a time to be globally competitive, culturally aware, and “fierce competitors on the economic world stage” by providing rigorous and relevant instruction in a safe environment with high expectations.”
Burroughs also said the five new goals are:
“Goal 1: Increase student achievement.
“Goal 2: Improve in all areas of human resources/leadership (recruit, train and retain).
“Goal 3: Develop and sustain effective and efficient use of all resources for improved student achievement and fiscal responsibility.
“Goal 4: Provide safe and healthy learning environments.
“Goal 5: Increase parent and community involvement.”
