A two-vehicle crash in Lowndes County at 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 7, claimed the life of a Milton, Fla., man.
Cpl. Jess Thornton of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) Alex City Highway Post said, “Carl Evans, 54, was killed when the tractor-trailer he was driving struck a 2004 Kenworth, before leaving the road and striking a tree.”
He said, the crash occurred on Interstate 65 near the 157-mile marker (which is between Letohatchee/Davenport Exit 151 and Tyson Road Exit 158 in Lowndes County) about 11 miles south of Montgomery. Also, “The tractor-trailer caught fire and was a complete loss.”
Thornton said Evans was pronounced dead at the scene.
Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
