The Central Lady Lions defeated Calhoun 56-33, Friday, Feb. 8 to claim the AHSAA Class 2A Area 6 Basketball Tournament title.
Central was led by Melody Walker and Cordasia Harris with 16 points each and Derrica Mccall with 15 points. And Calhoun was led by Toni Young and Trinity Whiting with 6 points each.
Central Lady Lions head basketball coach Terry Thomas said following the 23 point victory over Calhoun, “At this point we are just glad to get a win. We could have played better, but we are just glad to get a win and move on in the playoffs. We look forward to the sub-regional that will give us a chance to make it to Alabama State for the regional. Our goal is to win a state championship. So, we still have a chance to do that.”
