For the second year in a row, Lowndes County has received a good audit from the State of Alabama.
During the Dec. 9 Lowndes County Commission meeting, County Administrator Jacquelyn Thomas told commissioners that the state had completed the most recent audit and returned the findings.
“We have had the second audit, and we had no findings,” Thomas told the Commission. “This is the second audit straight that we’ve had no findings and they were here for three months combing through our records. This last audit that they just completed, we had no findings against the Lowndes County Commission.”
Commissioners thanked Thomas and her staff for their efforts and noted that Lowndes was one of the few, if not the only county in the Black Belt with no findings for the past two years.
“Also, financially we are in better shape than we ever have been,” Thomas added. “It’s something to be proud of.”
