The Collirene community hosted its first Christmas Parade on Dec. 24. Organized by Shunta Mitchell and Perma Hardyn, the event was a time to spread love and the holiday spirit throughout the community. Hardy has organized Christmas events for roughly 18 years and worked with Mitchell to add the parade this year. Community sponsors like Highway 80 Cafe assisted to provide a meal, fruit baskets and goodies for the children. On hand were Sheriff Chris West and personnel from the Lowndes County Sheriff’s office. Toys for Tots volunteers passed out presents to area children and local individuals turned out to process in the parade. Organizers wish to thank all who helped to make this long-awaited event special.
