Due to the threat of inclement weather, Lowndes County Public Schools and Lowndes Academy will be closed Tuesday, Jan. 16.

Lowndes County Public Schools made the decision to close in the best interest of all who travel across bridges, which will become icy after low temperatures Monday night. Administrators will continue to monitor weather conditions and communicate any additional changes to school operations via social media, news channels and the district’s calling system.

Lowndes Academy will resume classes at 10 a.m. on Wednesday. The Rebels’ basketball games against Hooper Academy have been cancelled.
