Calvary Church in Lowndesboro has served families for two years with a drive-up food pantry. The cabinet, stocked with items like canned food, bottled water, toilet paper and other necessities, stands ready at every hour to help community members.
Organizers say the ministry is known to be a blessing, and they ask that God continue to bless the church so the congregation can be a blessing to others. The effort allows families to retrieve needed items with privacy. Additional items and services — paper goods, diapers, animal needs, elderly lawn services/handyman work — are available upon request by sending contact information to Calvary Church, attention missions at 6000 U.S. Highway 80 East, Lowndesboro, AL 36067.
The church will host its 6th annual Pentecost Prayer Walk on May 19 at 9 a.m. Lineup starts at Calvary at 8:30 a.m. and participants are encouraged to bring signs and posters.
The church will celebrate its 10th anniversary with the theme, “Great is Thy Faithfulness: Lamentations 3:23” Sunday, June 2 at 2 p.m. Guest speaker will be Bishop Kyle Saercy.
