Job seekers in Lowndes County are invited to attend the Lowndes County Public Schools (LCPS) job fair on June 4. The one-day event is the first job fair the system has hosted since April 2022.
Schools are looking to fill a variety of positions elementary and secondary teachers, paraprofessionals, secretaries, counselors, custodians and bus drivers. Applicants are asked to bring resumes to participate in on-site interviews.
Dr. Kimberly Pruitt, LCPS director of human resources, said schools’ most urgent need is for elementary teachers for grades K-5.
“We are hopeful that this job fair will bring in a variety of job seekers, increasing the chances of finding candidates with the right skills and experience,” Pruitt said.
In addition to attracting a diverse pool of candidates, Pruitt said she expects in-person interviews to expedite the hiring process.
“The face-to-face interaction will allow for immediate engagement, giving us a chance to assess the candidates’ communication skills and cultural fit quickly,” Pruitt said. “The on-the-spot interviews and initial screenings will help expedite the hiring process, reducing the time to fill vacancies.”
Organizers are not looking solely to fill immediate vacancies, Pruitt explained. The event is expected to foster connections for future hires, she said.
“This job fair will provide a platform for building relationships with educational institutions, other businesses, and recruitment agencies, creating future recruitment opportunities,” Pruitt said.
The job fair is scheduled for June 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Central Office Auditorium. Contact Dr. Kimberly W. Pruitt at (334_ 548-2131 or kwilliams@lowndesboe.org for more information.
