On June 14, Lowndes County 4-H held a Sewing Day Camp at Snow Hill Christian Church in Mt. Willing. Participants gained knowledge about sewing tools, how to hand sew and cut fabric as well as using a sewing machine to complete their projects.
All participants created pillows, from picking fabric and cutting to sewing and filling the pillow to finish.
Providing opportunities for youth to explore and create sparks is the goal. Aside from it being the perfect way to unplug from technology, sewing fosters creativity, develops fine motor skills and teaches life skills as well as how to work with your hands.
We are looking for volunteers to assist with the Lowndes Co 4-H Sewing Club. Meetings will take place once a month.
