Jon Robert Kreder, 35, was arrested June 11 after his recent indictment by a grand jury on 11 felony sex charges involving a minor child.
Sheriff’s Investigative Commander Tony Green said the charges included first- and second-degree sex abuse, first- and second-degree sodomy and enticing a child.
“Kreder was arrested at his residence,” Green said. “His victim was a young girl. The abuse occurred over roughly a three-year period.”
Kreder’s arrest resulted from an ongoing investigation by the Lowndes County Sheriff’s office after alleged activities were reported in February. Kreder was first arrested on Feb. 11 but made bail and is now held at the John Hulett Detention Facility in Hayneville under a bond of $5.5 million.
“This is a Lowndes County case,” said Sheriff Chris West. “Our agency began working on the case in February. We want this indictment to send a message that this activity won’t be tolerated. When people engage in this kind of activity, we’re going to try and ferret them out and bring them to justice.”
District Attorney Charlotte Tesmer’s office will prosecute the case.
