Ford Walker has been voted Lowndes County Athlete of the Week for Week 4. He is a junior who plays football for the varsity Rebels and made an Interception for a touchdown during a recent game against Hooper Academy.
Walker tore his MCL recently, so he is out for the rest of the season. Despite his injury the student athlete represents his team from the sidelines every step of the way.
He secured Athlete of the Week by capturing 43%, 127 out of 296, votes cast in the contest.
Kamelia Hinter from The Calhoun School and Jakobian Davis from Central High School were also nominated for their athleticism and setting the standard for excellence on and off the field. Congratulations to Hinter and Davis for being nominated this week.
Athlete of the Week is made possible by the joint efforts of The Lowndes Signal and Lowndes County Public Schools Athletic Director Ervin Starr and sponsors, the Black Belt Unincorporated Wastewater Program and the Hayneville QV, as well as the cooperation of the coaches and administration of Central High School, Lowndes Academy, and The Calhoun School.
