Jabraylen Thomas has been voted Lowndes County Athlete of the Week for Week 5. He is a sophomore at Central High School where he plays running back and linebacker for the Lions.
“Ever since I’ve been here, he has worked hard,” said Central’s Head Coach Julian Little. “He does what you ask him to do and his progression, on the field and in the classroom is worthy of recognition.”
Thomas secured Athlete of the Week by capturing 44%, 108 out of 243, votes cast in the contest.
Layla Olyphant from The Calhoun School and Jeremy Hardy from Lowndes Academy were also nominated for their athleticism and setting the standard for excellence on and off the field. Congratulations to Olyphant and Hardy for being nominated this week.
Athlete of the Week is made possible by the joint efforts of The Lowndes Signal and Lowndes County Public Schools Athletic Director Ervin Starr and sponsors, the Black Belt Unincorporated Wastewater Program and the Hayneville QV, as well as the cooperation of the coaches and administration of Central High School, Lowndes Academy, and The Calhoun School.
