On Sunday, Oct. 6, the St Clair Assembly of God congregation welcomed a new pastor and his wife, Gary and Shelia Dopson. The church is located at 886 Highway 80 East in Lowndesboro, with Sunday service beginning each week at 10:45 a.m.

The Dopsons have been married for six years and have over 40 years in ministry. The couple said many of their churches were of humble beginnings, however every congregation experienced numerical growth. One such church became one of the fastest growing churches in their denomination.

The Dopson said that beyond physical increase, the most crucial aspect of ministry is the spiritual welfare of every individual in the body of Christ. The couple loves people and are interested in the spiritual maturity of their congregants. 

Sheila enjoys “thrifting”, while Gary loves golf. Both relish taking trips to the mountains and the beach. 

“We look forward with great anticipation for what God has in store in their new journey,” they said.
