Special to The Lowndes Signal
In 2024, a special day falls on a Wednesday, Oct. 16, providing a convenient occasion for employees to express their appreciation to their bosses.
The employees of Lowndes County Middle School (LMS) thought that this would be a great opportunity to celebrate both days with one event. Plans were put in motion to invite our Principal Jason Seaborn’s father, former Superintendent Eli Seaborn to be the guest speaker.
The young men in the audience were surprised to know that their principal’s father was once the superintendent of this great school system. Eli Seaborn encouraged the young men, fathers, grandfathers, uncles and brothers to learn how to respect themselves and others, emphasizing the importance of listening and learning how to save money by completing some small tasks around the house.
He expressed to the students how awesome they are and that they have the ability to be whatever they want to be. And he encouraged the fathers to continue supporting their sons and push them to achieve their goals.
Important points from Seaborn’s message include:
* A dad should be present in their son’s lives.
* There is a lot a son can learn from their fathers.
* Support your sons so they can develop into what they want to be.
* Work hard. Believe it.
* Children should learn responsibilities as they grow up.
