In a decisive 54-6 victory over the Valiant Cross Warriors, the Lowndes Academy Rebels claimed their fourth consecutive Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) 2A Region 1 championship.

Head coach Shane Moye said the Rebels played one of their best games this season.

“We probably played the best game we played all year, which is good because we didn’t really feel like we played that great the week before,” Moye said. “[We] cleaned up a bunch of things, and that’s probably the best game we played all year.”

The Rebels got on the board early for the first two touchdowns of the game. The Warriors answered by finding the Rebels’ end zone but could not secure the extra point.

Two more rushing touchdowns by junior Crawford Dansby sent both teams to the locker room at halftime with the Rebels leading 28-6.

Moye said Huston Hampton, Jeremy Hardy and Bradyn Stokes all played at the top of their game Friday. He also commended both offensive and defensive lines for their vital support for the win.

“Something that really was impressive this week was how good we were on the offensive line and defense line,” Moye said. “We’ve been kind of pushing that we’ve got to get better, be tougher, and I think that all the guys have been successful. Up front, we were just a lot better than we’ve been being.”

Lowndes Academy would find the Warriors’ endzone four more times to end the game with the 54-6 win. The Rebels advance to the first round of playoffs to host Jackson Academy Thursday, Nov. 7.

“The Eagles have a good quarterback, but they’re not as good as they have been,” Moye said. “They’ve got a good coach, and these are the playoffs, so anything can happen but I feel like if we continue to play how we played last week and keep building on that, then we have a good chance to make a run.

“I think the sky’s the limit for our boys. I think that if we can continue to keep working hard and keep getting where we need to be, we’ve got a chance.”
