Central Basketball

The Central Lions will host Ellwood Christian Dec. 12 for basketball games beginning at 4:30 p.m.

Calhoun Basketball

The Calhoun School Tigers will travel to play R.C. Hatch Dec. 13 in a basketball game beginning at 5 p.m.

Rebel Basketball

The Lowndes Academy Rebels will host a basketball tournament Dec. 13-14. The Lady Rebels compete with Morgan Academy Dec 13, 6 p.m. Boys compete at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, play begins with girls against Chambers at 10:30 a.m. and boys vs. Chambers at 12 p.m.

Christmas Parade

Fort Deposit presents its Christmas Parade and Health Fair Saturday, Dec. 14. Lineup starting at Lowndes Middle School at 10 a.m. The parade kicks off at 11 a.m. and the Health Fair will begin immediately after the parade. Contact Steven Thigpen at 334-662-9428 for information.

Memorial Classic

The Central High School in Hayneville will host the Toriano “Tito” Baker Memorial Classic vs. The Calhoun School Dec. 14 beginning with middle school girls at 10 a.m., middle school boys at 11:10 a.m., varsity girls at 12:20 p.m., varsity boys (U.F. Shields vs Wilcox Central) at 2 p.m., varsity girls at 3:40 p.m. and varsity boys (Calhoun vs. Central-Hayneville) at 5:25 p.m.

Members Meeting

The Black Belt Unincorporated Wastewater Program will hold its annual Members Meeting for anyone who has, wants or is interested in a septic tank system installed by BBUWP Dec. 18 at the Southview Worship Center in Hayneville. DAV Meetings

The DAV William “Bill” Cannion Chapter 100 meets the second Saturday of each month, from 8-9 a.m. at the Lowndes County Board of Education at 80 Commerce Street South in Hayneville. All veterans are invited to participate. For information, please call or text (281) 416-6156.

Pre-K Program

First Years Child Development Center, First Class Pre-K offers a free 4-year-old program from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for working parents and 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for non-working parents. Classes start in August. Space is limited. Call Katina Surles at (334) 281-8627 for more information.

LCUWP Applications

The Lowndes County Unincorporated Wastewater Project is accepting applications for septic system installation or repair at its office located at 507 W. Tuskeena Street in Hayneville. Call (334) 548-2006 or stop by Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for an application.

Head Start

The Lowndes County BOE has opened Head Start registration for children ages 3 and 4 for the 2024-2025 program year. Current immunization records, proof of income, and proof of age are required to register. Call (334) 548-2145 or visit www.lowndesboeheadstart.org for information.

The Calhoun School Tigers will host Wilcox Central in a tournament Dec. 19-20 in a basketball game. The time is yet to be determined.

Rebel Basketball

The Lowndes Academy Rebels will travel to Southern Academy Dec. 19-20 to compete in a basketball tournament. The Lady Rebels will play Dec. 19 at 4 p.m. Boys play at 5:30 p.m. Winning teams advance to play Dec. 20 beginning at 1 p.m.

Christmas Parade

The Town of White Hall will host its Christmas Parade on Saturday, Dec. 21. Line up starts at 10:30 a.m. at 787 Freedom Road. The parade begins promptly at 12 p.m. and will proceed to the White Hall Municipal Complex. Call (334) 875-5703 for more information.
