In an early afternoon press conference, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s office announced the arrest of two men suspected in an end-of-the-year Fort Deposit murder.

The two men, Jadarrius Darnell McPherson, 22, and Joseph Jerrell Williams, 18, were taken into custody after the murder of Frank Crenshaw, 22 (estimated) on Dec. 30.

According to Lowndes County Sheriff’s Investigative Commander Anthony Green, the men, along with one or two others, approached Crenshaw in the Edgewood community of Fort Deposit and attempted to steal the 1999 Honda Accord he had been driving.

“Based on the information we have, it was a carjacking,” Green said. “They were attempting to rob Mr. Crenshaw of his vehicle, and unfortunately that led to his death.”

Crenshaw attempted to flee on foot and was fatally injured, struck by gun fire from the suspects.

Green said deputies received a call for help and the caller reported an accident. Upon arriving at the scene they found Crenshaw, who succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

Several individuals were involved, Green said. Two, McPherson and Williams, are from Fort Deposit and are in custody in the Lowndes County jail. McPherson was arrested on Jan. 2 and Williams was taken in on Jan. 3.

The pair were charged with one count of murder and Green said he anticipates additional charges to be filed.

“The investigation is ongoing,” Green said. “We are looking for one or two other individuals and we do expect there to be other charges and well as [at least] one other individual.”

Colby Adams is lead investigator, working alongside Sgt. Randell Johnson on the case.

“This was a collaborative effort,” Green said. “We did a lot of work in Fort Deposit some of which would not have been possible without [Fort Deposit Police] Chief Terry Steiner.”

“We want to let the community know we are here and we are working for you,” Green said. “We’re not going to stop until we have everybody involved in this case in custody.”

Green said warrants had not yet been issued for the suspects still at large. The investigation is ongoing and this article will be updated as new information becomes available.
