Ahead of a winter storm expected for the weekend, schools in Lowndes County announced Thursday they would be closed on Friday, Jan. 11.

In a social media post Thursday morning, Lowndes Academy alerted parents that students would observe a virtual learning day Friday. Lowndes County Public Schools announced Friday afternoon that all schools would be closed due to the threat of inclement weather.
