The baptism of our Lord is one of the most profound events in the gospel narratives. The announcement of Jesus Christ was proclaimed amazingly by the Father.
“This is my Son, whom I am well pleased,” (Matthew 3:17).
Through the baptism of Jesus, we have a clearer picture of the Holy Trinity. This Sunday we celebrate the establishment of Christ’s identity; that He was sent from the Father.
Christian congregations throughout the world will commemorate Jesus’ baptism by renewing and remembering our baptism as we identify ourselves with Christ. As we move forward to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the globe, it is through baptism that we are born anew by the gift of God’s grace and placed within the family of God called the Church.
Now, the work of Christmas begins. So, remember your baptism and be thankful.
