Winter weather took our area by storm, making roads in central and south Alabama impassable from Tuesday into Thursday morning.
The Lowndes Signal is ready to get into the hands of our readers, but with roads iced over and freezing temperatures overnight, our delivery personnel are unable to get them out for delivery this evening. Postal services are impacted, too, and that means subscribers will see a delay in their newspaper delivery.
Melting snow and temperatures in the teens Wednesday night has left ice on the roadways and bridges. Out of an abundance of caution and care for those we depend on to get the newspaper safely to our readers, delivery has been delayed until roads are opened for travel.
We are eager to get The Lowndes Signal out to you and will do so as soon as possible as conditions improve. We expect delivery to the post office by mid-day on Thursday. Subscribers should receive delivery once the postal service is back on schedule.
