Quilt Show

The Cotton Street Gallery at 104 North Cotton Street in Andalusia, will host its second annual quilt show and competition beginning Saturday, Feb. 1. Quilts will be on display through March 31. Competition judge Sandy Gard will give a lecture on the art of quilting at 1 p.m. Feb. 1.

Science Fair

Lowndes County Public Schools will host a science fair for grades 6 – 12 Tuesday, Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Central High School in Hayneville. Parents are encouraged to come between 1 – 2 p.m. to view projects. Contact your local school for more information.

Mom Classes

The Lowndes County Extension Office offers free classes for moms-to-be on topics like nutrition, physical activity, breastfeeding and more. Contact EFNEP educator Hannah Davenport at (334) 382-5111 for more information.

Pre-K Program

First Years Child Development Center, First Class Pre-K offers a free 4-year-old program from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for working parents and 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for non-working parents. Classes start in August. Space is limited. Call Katina Surles at (334) 281-8627 for more information.

LCUWP Applications

The Lowndes County Unincorporated Wastewater Project is accepting applications for septic system installation or repair at its office located at 507 W. Tuskeena Street in Hayneville. Call (334) 548-2006 or stop by Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for an application.

Head Start

The Lowndes County BOE has opened Head Start registration for children ages 3 and 4 for the 2024-2025 program year. Current immunization records, proof of income, and proof of age are required to register. Call (334) 548-2145 or visit www.lowndesboeheadstart.org for information.

Water Operator
