The Hayneville Town Council has a former member back on board and will hold a public hearing on Thursday, Nov. 15 on a possible water rate increase.
Carole Scrushy has returned to the Hayneville Town Council.
In a meeting held Monday, Nov. 12, the Hayneville Town Council officially reappointed Scrushy to her former council seat.
Town Clerk Susie Smith said she administered the oath of office to Scrushy.
Scrushy had decided not to seek re-election this year, but she confirmed to the Lowndes Signal on Nov. 6 that after no one qualified to fill her vacant seat, she agreed to serve.
Smith said a public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 15 to consider a water rate increase of $2.50 which would raise the residential base water rate from $20.37 to 22.87 and the commercial rate from $42.43 to $44.93 effective Jan. 1.
