Lowndes County School Superintendent Dr. Daniel Boyd received high marks in his annual performance evaluation presented at last Thursday’s regular County Board of Education meeting held at the central office in Hayneville.
Dr. James Wright, president/CEO of Professional Development Services LLC said the evaluation of Boyd was based on a school board questionnaire, administrative survey and portfolio.
Wright said there were 52 questions on the board’s questionnaire and of a possible score of 4, the board gave Boyd a mean score of 3.9.
“That is probably one of the strongest board evaluations I have seen in a long, long time,” Wright said. “That’s saying that the board looked at you (Boyd) in a number of capacities and they saw some things that they liked.”
Wright said administrators gave Boyd a mean score of 3.5 out of 4.0.
He said that meant the board and administrators were seeing many of the same things with regard to competencies demonstrated by the superintendent.
Wright said technology and collaboration were two areas of demonstrated strength, but Boyd had 11 areas of demonstrated excellence.
“What it says to you as a whole,” he told the board, “is that you have a very strong, a very competent, very capable school leader.”
Board Vice President Steve Foster said, “Dr. Boyd we commend you on an outstanding evaluation and it’s nice to see that not only does the board think highly of the work that you are doing, but the staff people do, as well.”
Foster was presiding over the meeting in the absence of Board President Ben Davis.
Wright did not give any areas for Boyd to improve.
