The Calhoun Tigers fell to Autaugaville 30-16 on the road, Friday night. But head football coach Dewayne Williams said his team settled down and bonded in the second half.
While the Tigers gave up 22 points in the first half to Autuagaville. He said Calhoun held their opponents to 8 points in the second half.
The Tigers scored on a Jakeem Davison 30-yard run and a Kyle Brown 2-point pass play. As well as a Je’ Marcus Davison 10-yard touchdown run and 2-point run play.
Williams said the Tigers made a lot of mistakes in the first half, which he blamed on first game jitters. However, he said, his team settled down in the second half giving up just 8 points and scoring 16 points of their own.
He said his team’s entire game plan had to be changed because the team was missing players who did not get all their paper work in.
He said, “The second half, we gathered ourselves and bonded and played together.”
The Tigers will face New Brockton at home on Sept. 5.
