The Selma to Montgomery National Historic Trail will commemorate the events and people that led to the passing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 with activities throughout 2015.

The Selma to Montgomery NHT will host a panel discussion, “The Student Movement in Montgomery,” on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at 6 p.m. on the campus of Alabama State University at the Levi Watkins Learning Center lecture hall.

The fourth installment in this year-long series will focus on the activities and protest of the youth from local higher education institutions (Alabama State and Tuskegee Institute Universities), members of the Student Non-violent Coordinating Committee and activist from around the country who took action in Montgomery after Bloody Sunday.

The audience will learn about lesser publicized actions taken to fight for the right to vote and assemble.

The distinguished panel includes Dr. Howard Robinson (Alabama State University), Dr. Clyde Robertson (Tuskegee University), and Mr. Dana Chandler (Tuskegee University). Their presentation will offer contemporary scholarship and field questions about this dynamic topic.

The discussion will be held at 1140 North University Drive in Montgomery, Ala.
