According to the National Weather Service as a storm system continues to move through Central Alabama, including Lowndes County, winds will be strong at times with higher gusts through midnight tonight, Friday, Jan. 22.
And, “With the rains that fell over the area… the ground is saturated and stronger winds could take a weak tree and large limbs down at any point.”
In addition, according to the National Weather Service, “A wind advisory means that winds of 25 to 30 mph are expected. Winds that strong can make driving difficult… especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
The target area for the advisory includes: Autauga, Barbour, Bibb, Blount, Bullock, Calhoun, Chambers, Cherokee, Chilton, Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Etowah, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lee, Lowndes, Macon, Marengo, Marion, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Pike, Randolph, Russell,
Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Tuscaloosa, Walker and Winston counties.
