Amy Bray of Greenville has been appointed as the new chief school financial officer for Lowndes County Public Schools.
Lowndes County School Superintendent Dr. Daniel Boyd confirmed Friday that Bray was appointed to the position, effective March 28, at a special called meeting of the board held at the central office in Hayneville on Thursday night, March 17.
Boyd said Bray replaces Bernard Mitchell, who took a position as an accountability officer for Birmingham City Schools.
He said, “Amy Bray comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience. We welcome her to Lowndes County Public Schools, and we feel that she will be a great addition to our school system.”
While Boyd said Bray lives in Greenville, he said she owns property in Lowndes County along the river. He also said she comes to the school system from industry, having worked in finance and as an auditor.
Boyd said former Chief School Financial Office Mitchell “will be terribly missed.” But, he said, “You understand that people have to move on.”
Bray’s appointment was the only matter to come before the board, which will meet at the Central Office in Hayneville on April 14.
