Oath given to Lowndes County Board of Education members

The Lowndes County Board of Education saw recently elected board members sworn in, officers elected for fiscal year 2017 and a meeting date change for December at its regular meeting held last Thursday night.
Alabama State Senator and Lowndes County Board of Education attorney Hank Sanders administered to oath of office to new Board members Donald J. Carter, District 3, and reelected Board member Steve Foster, District 4.
In addition the board elected fiscal year 2017 officers including Ben Davis, the only nominee, president, and Steve Foster, the only nominee, vice president.
While the board normally meets the second Thursday of each month, the board scheduled its December meeting for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13 at the Central Office in Hayneville.
With all board members present, the board approved its agenda and minutes of its Oct. 13 meeting and the following action items:
Contract extensions with: Gary Palmore (mechanic services, Transportation Department) from Nov. 18 to Dec. 16 and Warcheta Bedgood (technical support and professional development, Fiscal Department) From Dec. 30, 2016 to Jan. 31, 2017; a revised contract with Excel Institute (2016-2017); contracts
with Springboard Education Foundation (administration of Lowndes Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY), 2016-2017 School Year; the Central Alabama Basketball Officials Association Inc. (officials, 2016-2017 home basketball games for Hayneville Middle School);
Central Alabama Basketball Officials Association Inc. (officials, 2016-2017 home basketball games for Central High School); September 2016 Financial Statement, Profit and Loss Detail Report and Check Detail Report for the Lowndes County Head Start Program; Revenues and Expenditures Report, Financial Statement and Payroll Register September 2016 based on reconciled bank statements; and the personnel report with one abstention by Foster and two abstentions by Carter.
