Lowndes Crash Thursday night claims life

A two-vehicle crash at 9:50 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19, has claimed the life of a Spanish Fort man.
According to Jesse Thornton of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), “Thad Still Akins, 43, was killed when the 2007 Hyundai Sante Fe he was driving struck the trailer of a 2015 International tractor trailer on Interstate 65 near the 153 mile marker.”
He said Akins was pronounced dead on the scene.
Nothing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.
