Robbery/shooting investigated at Marathon gas station

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is investigating a robbery with shooting that occurred on Monday night, June 12 at the Marathon Gas Station on U.S. 80 East near the Lowndes/Montgomery County line.

Jeremy A. Marvin, an investigator with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Unit said, “

On Monday June 12, 2017, around 6:30 p.m. three unknown black male subjects entered the Marathon Gas Station on U. S. Highway 80 East. They entered the store and robbed the clerk of the money in the cash register. The clerk was shot and was transported to the nearby hospital for life threatening injuries. “

Marvin said the call originally came through to Montgomery City Police, who responded to assist the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.  He said the ALEA Bureau of Investigations also responded at the request of Lowndes County Sheriff John Williams and “are going to take the lead on the investigation.”

Marvin said, “If anyone has any information in regards to this case, please contact the State Bureau of Investigations or the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office.”
