Lowndes Rebels and Lady Rebels fall in Elite 8 Tournament

The 2017-18 Basketball Season came to an end for both the Lowndes Academy Rebels and the Lowndes Academy Lady Rebels in the Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) Elite 8 Tournament at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery, Wednesday night, Jan. 31.
The AA Lady Rebels, who were winners of the Class AA Region 1 Area 1 Championship with a record of 9-10, fell to Wilcox 39-31.
The Lady Rebels were led by Laiken Hussey with 15 points, Hannah Till with 10 points and Madolynn Headley with 6 points.
The Lowndes Academy Rebels fell to Escambia Academy 83-42 and finished with an 11-8 record.
The Rebels were led by Jesse Foley with 12 pints, Jon Johnson with 11 points, Moseley Higgins with 6 points and Kason Williams and Chase Little with 4 points each. Dylan Wheeler and Garrett Little scored 2 pints and Daniel Callaway scored 1 point.
Prior to Elite 8 Tournament action, Lady Rebels and Hussey and Headley and Rebels Johnson and Higgins were named to the Region 1 All Tournament Basketball Team.
Lowndes Academy Lady Rebels head basketball coach Jeff Lovell said following the Region Tournament that his team started this season 1-8 and rolled off about eight straight wins. And he said, “I’m proud of this team… where they’ve come and what they accomplished.”
And Lowndes Academy Rebels head basketball coach Matt Marshall said following the Region Tournament, “We’ve had a great season in my opinion.”
