A two-vehicle accident accident on U.S. 80 in Lowndes County early, Sunday, April 29, has claimed the life of a Selma man.

Corporal  Jesse Thornton of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) said, “Roger Phillip Young Jr., 37, was killed when the 2015 Suzuki motorcycle he was operating struck a 2003 Hyundai Sonata.”

He said the accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. today on U.S. 80 seven miles west of Hayneville near mile marker 117.

Thornton said, “Young was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Hyundai was transported to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.”

He also said, “Northing further is available as Alabama State Troopers continue to investigate.”
