The Central High Lions claimed their second victory of 2018 Friday, Nov. 2 with a 36-30 win on the road over non-regional opponent Autaugaville.
The Lions’ second straight win, following a 45-6 win over Calhoun at home, improved the Lions final record to 2-8 overall, 1-6 in Class 2A, Region 3 play.
Unfortunately for the Calhoun Tigers, their season ended 0-10 overall 0-7 in Class 2A, Regional 3 play taking it on the chin 49-12 at the hands of non-regional opponent Geneva on the road.
But there were positives in the final game of the season for the Tigers, according to Calhoun head football coach Ervin Starr.
He said after his Tigers trailed 49-0 at the half, they did not want to end their season lying down. And, he said, “It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish.”
He said Kalil Bibb scored on an 8-yard run early in the fourth quarter. And after recovering an onside kick, quarterback Travon Brown hit wide receiver Dontarius Robison with a 45-yard touchdown pass to make it a 49-12 final.
Starr said, “Calhoun scored on their final two posessions of the season and didn’t give up a first down in the second half,” for what he called “a good finish” by his Tigers.
