John A Crook, age 76, of Fort Deposit, passed away on Monday, Dec. 31, 2018, at his residence.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. at Braggs Christian Church with Pastor Jim Free, the Rev. Steve Stephens, and the Rev. Elwood Sims officiating, and Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at Braggs Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.at the church.
Pallbearers will be Bubba Crook, Jason Crook, Matthew Maddox, Austin Crook, Justin French, Peyton Hayes, Aaron Fulleron, Roy Mercer and Matthew Sanders. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sam Bender, Frank Kummell, Frank Vawter and John Campbell.
Crook retired from Bellsouth in 1991. After his retirement, he raised cattle and spent his spare time fishing with his beloved four-legged children Poppy, Possum and Dudley.
Crook is preceded in death by his parents, Joe H. Crook Sr. and Myrtle L Crook. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Crook; children, Debbie (Matthew) Sanders, Bubba (Pam) Crook, Jan White, and Jason (Stephanie) Crook; siblings, Joe H (Betty) Crook, Jimmy (Joyce) Crook, and Jean (Rusty) Hussey; grandchildren, Jessica (Aaron) Fullerton, Matthew Maddox, Brittney (Roy) Mercer, Austin Crook, Justin French, Jordan Crook, Peyton Hayes, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
