If you’re in the Town of Hayneville or Fort Deposit, don’t be out and about between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. without justification.

Both Lowndes County communities have enacted curfews that are effective immediately.

A note on the Hayneville Town Hall’s front door says that the Town Council enacted a curfew as a way of helping limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID–19).

The curfew takes effect immediately and will continue indefinitely. The curfew will run from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m. seven days per week.

Failure to comply may result in a $500 fine.

Similarly, in Fort Deposit per Mayor Fletcher Fountain and Police Chief Terry Steiner, a curfew has been implemented from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., effective immediately.

There are several exemptions to curfews statewide including traveling to and from work (to a job classified as “essential” under Gov. Kay Ivey’s directives).
