Lowndes Commission imposes countywide curfew

The Lowndes County Commission met in emergency session Friday and adopted a resolution “imposing a safety curfew for the inhabitants of Lowndes County.”
According to Resolution No. 4-3-20, “The curfew shall be from 10 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. The sheriff of Lowndes County is authorized to enforce this curfew.”
The curfew does not apply to persons exempted by Alabama law.
Lowndes County’s declaration follows the enactment of curfews in Fort Deposit and Hayneville. The curfew will remain in effect until the commission votes to lift it based on recommendations from the State of Alabama.
