The Lowndes Academy Rebels (8-1) smashed Chambers (4-4) 48-0 in a Friday night shutout in Lafayette.
Rebels’ running back Chance Ward recorded 16 carries for 196 yards.
The 6’0, 170-pound senior helped Lowndes Academy secure a strong lead in the first half with an 80-yard touchdown run.
Ward followed up with a seven-yard rush and a 29-yard reception from Hank McIntosh for two additional Rebels touchdowns.
Freshman Garrett Headley also scored on a 25-yard reception from McIntosh in the first half.
“This is probably one of the best games our offensive line has played all year,” said Coach Matt Marshall. “We knew they would bring multiple blitzes inside and we focused on our inside blocking.”
By the end of the first half, the Rebels held a comfortable 27-0 lead over Chambers.
Anderson Casey was six for 72 on the ground. Casey crept in an eight-yard touchdown in the second half and had two receptions for 50-yards.
King scored a Rebels touchdown on a 57-yard run and ended the night with four carries for 82 yards.
Quarterback Hank McIntosh went seven for eight with 127 yards passing.
Senior Tyler Love and freshman Grant Nall recorded 14 tackles each against Chambers.
Lowndes Academy faces Crenshaw Christian Academy (7-0) Friday at Rebel Field in Hayneville.
Marshall said he expects to see a lot of the same inside blitzes from Crenshaw this week to throw the Rebels’ time off.
“Crenshaw’s defensive line is one of the best I have seen all year,” said Marshall. “We will have to lock our assignments and get after it up front.”
