The Hayneville Middle School Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) held its first meeting for the 2023-2024 school year on Sept. 12. Prior to the meeting, PTO President Jamie Stringer and Hayneville Middle Assistant Principal Amy Payton recognized the Lowndes County community partners who assisted in the organization’s revitalization during the 2022-2023 school year.
Partners who were honored with a token of appreciation are District Attorney Charlotte Tesmer, District Judge Adrian Johnson, Sheriff Christopher West, Probate Judge LaShandra Myrick, Lowndes County Department Human Resources Director Felicia Thomas, Lowndes County Administrator Jacqueline Thoma and Former Lowndes County Circuit Clerk Ruby.
Grandparent and Head Start Family and Community Partnerships Manager Laura James Hunter was also recognized for recruiting the community partners.
Membership cards were designed by Wakisha Carter, HMS Computer Science Teacher.
Hayneville Middle School’s PTO supports school staff, helps to promote students’ self-esteem, and assists in efforts to solve school needs through volunteering and funding.
Community members can join the HMS PTO. The cost of the membership is $5.00. Please contact Stringer at 334-548-2184 for more details.
At the organization’s Oct. 10 meeting, the group elected new officers: President Jamie Stringer, Vice President Stephanie Crenshaw, Secretary Jill McMeans, and Treasurer Veronica Jackson.
